Best IPTV UK: how to choose a provider (without trusting a top-10 list)

Most "best IPTV UK" lists are written by the providers on them. Here is a method you can use yourself to compare IPTV providers fairly.

Search for "best IPTV UK" and you will find lists that rank providers in a confident order. Many of those lists are written by the providers themselves or by affiliates paid per sale. We are an IPTV provider too, so we will not pretend to be neutral. Instead, here is a method you can apply to any provider, including us.

Score each provider on six things

1. Identity. Is there a named company, number and address you can verify? Anonymous operators are the highest risk.

2. Licensing. Can the provider explain, in writing, why it is entitled to supply the channels? Vague answers are an answer. See is IPTV legal in the UK?.

3. Pricing and renewal. Is it clear what you pay, for how long, and what happens at the end of the period?

4. Devices. Does it support the device you already own, with a setup guide that works? A good guide beats a long feature list.

5. Support. Ask a question before buying. How quickly and how clearly do they reply? That is how they will treat you after paying.

6. Evidence. Prefer verifiable facts over adjectives. Be sceptical of "best", "number one" and "unlimited".

Test before you commit

If a short or low-cost option exists, start there instead of the longest plan. Check that the picture is stable at the times you actually watch, such as evenings and weekends. Our broadband guide explains how to separate a service problem from a home-network problem.

How we compare

We publish our company details, our supported devices and our plans in pounds. See about us, devices and plans. Where we cannot yet back up a claim, we say so rather than imply it.

One caution

No guide can guarantee a provider will stay reliable. Prefer shorter commitments until you are happy, and keep your payment records.
