A Fire TV Stick is one of the most popular ways to run IPTV in UK homes. It is small, inexpensive and works with an ordinary HDMI port. This is the general process. Our installation guide has the current links and the exact player we recommend.
Before you start
- Connect the stick to your TV and your home Wi-Fi, or use an Ethernet adapter if you have one.
- Make sure the software is up to date under Settings, then My Fire TV, then About.
- Have your sign-in details from your provider ready.
Step 1: install Downloader
Fire TV does not list every app in its store. A free app called Downloader lets you fetch an installer file from a web address. Search for it from the home screen and install it.
Step 2: allow installs from Downloader
Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer options, then Install unknown apps, and switch Downloader on. Only enable this for apps you trust, and switch it off again afterwards if you prefer.
Step 3: download the player
Open Downloader and type the address given in our installation guide. Download the file, choose Install, then Open. Only use a link from a source you trust.
Step 4: sign in
Enter the login details your provider sent. Wait for the channel list to load. It can take a minute the first time.
If it does not work
- It will not install. Check that installs are allowed for Downloader and that the stick has free storage.
- The list does not load. Check the details for typing mistakes and that your broadband is working.
- It buffers. Read our buffering guide.
